After days of rumors about a possible argument between Rihanna and A$AP Rocky at the 2026 Met Gala, the Fenty Beauty founder is finally setting the record straight…kind of. On May 7, Rih took to social media to share a 45-second recap video from Met Gala night, showing clips of her and Rocky smiling, posing, and generally having a good time.
And though she only captioned the video with a simple “met recap ✨🎥,” the message seems clear: No drama to be seen here, folks!
If you need to get caught up to speed: Rumors of tension first began after TMZ shared a clip on March 5 in which Rih and Rocky appeared to be having an intense conversation on a sprinter van following the event.
Per expert lip-reader Nicola Hickling for Online Casino Canada (via The Mirror), the clip opened with Rihanna seemingly asking Rocky, “You don’t care for me, do you?” to which he reportedly responded with, “Are you for real? You’re crazy, can’t you see? Crap, crap. Get out, I can’t be around you.” And it only (reportedly) escalated from there.
There was also another viral clip shared from inside the Met Gala, where Rihanna appeared to give Rocky a side-eye after she spotted him chatting with a group that included creative director of Swarovski, Giovanna Engelbert, as well as EJAE and Tyla (though, for what it’s worth, Tyla later denied feeling snubbed by Rih).
A source also provided more context to TMZ after the videos went viral, claiming Rih and Rocky weren’t arguing but simply “drained” from the event.
“It was a long day and they were running on empty,” one source told the outlet, which also claimed that “they’re happy, and people are simply overanalyzing a tired moment.”
And while fans raised eyebrows when Rocky posted his own Met Gala recap carousel on Instagram (which notably didn’t include any pictures of Rihanna), Rih’s video seems to make clear that people are simply reading too much into things.
